Summer on Ice
M started her first day of skate camp today (hockey camp to come in August).
I’ve never seen that kiddo as silly happy as she was after 2.5 hours on the ice and playing with new pals.
We offered her options - dance, gymnastics, soccer, even art camp. No go. Apparently ice is this weird Canadian thing. It gets in your blood (I’m told) and nothing cures.
It is water related. So, she’s sticking with a theme. Had surfing lessons been an option, they MAY (I stress may) have trumped skating. But, seriously, that kiddo looked like she had reached some Zen place knowing she will be able to race daddy around the rink by the end of the week.
“I’m going to win the championship,” she tells everyone she meets.
Who knows what championship she’s dreaming about. But, it definitely involves full hockey gear and a meet up with Roberto Luongo
